Cynthia Enloe
Cynthia Enloe is a feminist activist, researcher and teacher. She is Research Professor at Clark University in Massachusetts and internationally known for her work on gendered politics and war; women in the military; and women in the global garment, banana, diplomatic and banking industries, and in domestic service.
She is the author of many books, including most recently Twelve Feminist Lessons of War and The Big Push: Exposing and Challenging the Persistence of Patriarchy. Her other books include Does Khaki Become You?, Bananas, Beaches and Bases, Maneuvers, The Curious Feminist and Globalization and Militarism. She is co-author of The Real State of America: Mapping the Myths and Truths about the United States with Joni Seager.
Her work has been translated into French, German, Icelandic, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. She has been awarded honorary doctorates from universities around the world, and regularly appears on international news channels.
In 2018, Cynthia Enloe was chosen as one of the 100 names written on the Gender Justice Wall at the International Crimes Court in The Hague.
