Corinne Pearlman and Candida Lacey are the founding directors of two awards, each designed to uncover and launch new talent: the First Graphic Novel Award has been a mainstay of the UK comics scene since its inception in 2012; the Margaret Busby New Daughters of Africa Award funds an African student to study at SOAS, University of London.
