Candida Lacey
Candida has worked in the publishing industry since the 1980s. After completing her PhD at the University of Sussex, she was a commissioning editor at Routledge, Pandora Press, Unwin Hyman, HarperCollins and then Jonathan Cape before joining Myriad Editions where, as publishing director, she launched a programme designed to showcase emerging talent.
She has published many notable authors, including winners and finalists of the Women’s Prize, Desmond Elliott, Authors’ Club Best First Novel, Polari, Jhalak and Diverse Book Awards.
She is a founding director of the Margaret Busby New Daughters of Africa Award, which funds an African student to study at SOAS University of London, and a mentor for We Are Not Numbers. She is also an executor for the Estate of Kay Dick.
At the moment she isn’t looking for submissions or new clients.
